Bring Generation Women to your city for $750.

Love storytelling? Experienced at producing events (or eager to learn?) Purchase a live show yearly license for $750 and you’re ready to bring Generation Women to your town!

For that, you’ll receive everything you need to start running successful live shows, like guides to marketing, advice on casting, design assets and templates, and more. And you get to keep all of your show’s profit.

Our shows feature a performer in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s+. At least two are of color. At least one is LGBTQIA+. Line-ups are diverse as far as background, occupation, faith, and gender expression: we welcome trans women and nonbinary performers. This is non-negotiable.

 

We operate as a franchise: for $750 yearly, you have access to all our design and IP, processes, branding, and language. This suits self-starters: you cast and market the show, edit the stories and communicate with talent, and run the night. We love rebels, but our aim is to keep all shows uniform as far as format, look and feel. Only apply if you love the existing night, website, and social media presence. Your license is only for live shows (not podcasts/ workshops/ TV show etc).

We want to hear from teams interested in committing to a year, and at least four shows a show (or more). You decide how to divvy up roles/responsibilities; we advise creating a team that has complementary skill sets and shared communication styles.

All the assets and information you need to successfully execute monthly Generation Women shows will be provided for you after you sign a contract and pay your $750 yearly licensing fee. But here are some top-line recommendations.

Venue
We recommend a performing arts venue that offers a split on tickets, as opposed to a flat-fee rental, unless the rental is affordable. A ticket split means if the show doesn’t sell well, you’re not out of pocket. You could also explore a private room in a bar or restaurant, who would keep some or all of the food and drink profits.

We recommend a venue with at least 50 sellable seats. We don’t recommend venues without seating options (ie music venues), as many audience members are older and require seats.

Ticketing
We recommend Eventbrite, and choosing the option to pass the fees onto the customer.
NYC shows are priced at $30 - $35, with less for standing room. We recommend keeping your ticket price above $20, and below $35.

Website
We recommend having a website. You must use the approved Squarespace template for your website and it must look as close to the NYC website as possible. See the Canadian website as an example. If you can’t design in Squarespace, we can recommend designers. We will send you your list of approved URLs.

Roles and Responsibilities
We recommend working with at least one partner. A full list of tasks will be provided for you.

Profits
You keep all profits from the show. You may pursue in-kind sponsorships. Financial sponsorships will be split with us on a case-by-case basis.

Costs
You are responsible for all costs related to the show, including Squarespace fees, purchase of URL, performer/ venue/ photographer/ assistant fees etc. We do not provide financial support for your show.

Assistance
We provide one 30 minute pre-show call before your first show. We will have a 30-minute post-show call. Additional calls are priced at $150 per hour. Regular email support is not offered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this license to create a Generation Women podcast/TV show/retreat/workshop (etc)
No. You are not permitted to use this license to do anything other than a live event in our existing format.

Can I create Generation Women merchandise?
Maybe. Designs must feature our design elements (ie logo/color palette/fonts) and be approved prior to production.

Can I get sponsorships?
In-kind sponsorships (ie products, a space) are permitted. Financial sponsorships will be split with us, the split worked out case-by-case.

What type of event can I organize?
Events must be stand-alone (not part of another event, conference, festival, etc.) and open to the public.

Can my company/agency/co-working space host Generation Women?
We franchise with individuals, not businesses. But a company can support with a space or sponsorship.

Can I make up my own themes?
Yes, although a list of past themes will be provided for you.

What are my hard costs?
You pay for the website and url. We suggest paying your storytellers at least $50 each per show, or compensating in some other way (i.e. a gift).

When does my license start?
When you return the signed contract and pay your licensing fee.
